Family Association of Montessori

FAM is the official TMS parent and family organization, and one of the best ways to get engaged with the TMS community! Entirely parent-run, FAM supports the school, our families, and our community. All TMS parents/guardians/relatives are welcome - the more volunteers we have, the more we are able to do!

In addition to hosting semiregular meetings, FAM supports the school by organizing events throughout the year that bring together students, families, and TMS staff. We believe that a strong community enhances the school experience for our children, which in turn further strengthens our community!

Here is just a small sampling of the many ways that TMS supports our school.

• Friday Frolics - Every Friday (barring extremely unpleasant weather), we invite all of TMS's students and their families (siblings & friends welcome!) to come play at the playground at Mondauk Common, just a couple of minutes down the road, after school is over!  Mondauk also has ample parking, proper bathrooms, sports fields, walking trails, picnic tables, and more! Make sure you pack some snacks for your hungry little ones - but usually there is plenty to share!
• Fall Carnival - A new tradition, its a fun-filled family night of carnival games, food, and fun! All proceeds go to our Annual Fund.
• Global Celebration - This event is a cherished TMS tradition that showcases the rich diversity of our school community. During Global Celebration, families are invited to share foods, activities, and cultural items that represent their heritage. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unique backgrounds that make our community vibrant and to learn from one another in an inclusive and festive environment.
• MLK Day of Service - Our community comes together at this volunteer event which supports community organizations helping area youth. In addition, our kids learn about diversity and equity issues and how we can continue to spread MLK's message today.
• Earth Day - Co-organized with the students in the Green Team, parents and students come together to beautify our campus, learn about composting, and as always, sing the Peace Song to celebrate our commitment to being stewards of the earth and ambassadors of peace.
• Teacher Appreciation Week - We are a little obsessed with how incredible our TMS guides and assistants are! During Teacher Appreciation Week in May, FAM helps to shower them with as many tokens of appreciation as we can muster!
