Cradles to Crayons
TMS initiated a new partnership in 2014 with Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization serving local children between the ages of infancy through 12 years of age. Many children and their families are in need right in our own neighborhoods, and fortunately, there are many ways our school can help. Throughout the year, the TMS community donates new and gently used items for the benefit of these children. Occasionally, Cradles to Crayons uses our school as a public donation site.
Cradles to Crayons partners with social service agencies, schools and foster homes that provide direct assistance to children in need, and provides new and gently used items that have been contributed by families, schools, corporations, community groups, churches and other organizations. More than 50,000 children will be beneficiaries this year through the Cradles to Crayons program.
Martin Luther King Jr Day
This year (2017) saw the initiation of our first service project on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by school parents, who organized a program of creating care packages for the homeless. A call was put out to collect donations of goods, and that morning, many of our school families participated in assembling the packages. 110 packages were then delivered to a church in Doylestown for distribution during its monthly meals for the homeless. The Day of Service is a way to transform Dr. King’s life and teachings into meaningful community service that helps empower and strengthen local communities, and we look forward to continuing this new tradition.
