What are the school’s affiliations?

The Montessori School is a dually accredited school. It is accredited by both the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS). What days are the preschool programs available?

All of our programs run five days per week. While we do not offer the option of fewer days, we do offer 1/2 day and full day programs up to the Kindergarten year. Kindergarten is a full day program.

Yes. The Montessori School offers an Extended Hours Program 7:30am to 6pm. Extended care may be arranged on a contract or on a drop-in basis. These programs reflect the Montessori philosophy. Children are provided with a caring and stable environment that gives them a sense of security and allows them to play and explore. At the Elementary level, The Montessori School also offers a variety of after school “Electives” on a fee basis. Most Electives run from 3-5pm.

Does TMS have a cafeteria?

TMS does not have a cafeteria, but conveniently offers a full student lunch program through Smart Lunches. Smart Lunches serves thousands of families in growing markets of Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and Washington DC. Parents create their own account and then order meals using Smart Lunches’ online interface, according to the schedule and plan that best suits their needs. Caterer partners are trained in using Smart Lunches’ standard recipes and procedures, which ensures quality and consistency. Chefs’ recipes are 100% nut-free, nutrient-dense, sensible about salt and sugar, and served in portion sizes appropriate for children of different age groups. Meals arrive in specialty constructed, eco-friendly packaging that keeps hot items hot and cold items cold with minimal environmental impact. The lunches are then delivered to each classroom by TMS staff.

Milk orders through TMS are also available.

What about adapting to other schools after TMS?

Feedback from our graduates and their parents consistently indicates that the Montessori School students adapt easily and quickly to subsequent (and often more “traditional”) learning environments. Frequently, our students are described by their later teachers as being capable of advanced, independent academic work, and as being emotionally and socially mature for their ages.
